Overview
RKL is a 3v3 basketball game that combines the thrill of basketball with the excitement of web3. In this game, players can choose their team based on the NFTs they own or rent. The gameplay is designed to reflect real basketball, but with a cartoony and over-the-top style of play.
Players are controlled by an in-house developed AI basketball AI system, however this is not a game to sit back and watch. Players still have direct input into many of the actions taken by the Kongs. Using these mechanics successfully will distinguish great players from everyone else.
Key Mechanics in Core Gameplay
Victory Condition: The game continues until one team reaches the winning score.
Action Buttons: 6 buttons that give players direct control over what the Kongs are doing.
Offense: The team with possession of the ball tries to score by passing, sprinting and shooting.
Defense: The team without possession of the ball tries to steal, block shots, and tackle the opposing team.
Rumble Mode: Player has an energy bar that charges up with every move they make, which activates when full to give a full team buff.
Ultimate Abilities: Special moves unlocked through gameplay, which can turn the tide of the game in your favor.
Boosts
Boosts are native to each NFT and are used in basically every calculation that is made by the game. From the ease of making a shot, to the chance of resisting a steal, to effecting the decisions taken by the AI, Boosts are woven throughout the entire game.
To overly simplify:
Defense β blocks, intercepts, steals, tackles
Finish β dunks/layups, move speed
Shooting β shooting distance, shooting accuracy
Vision β passing, jump ball, resisting defense
Depending on the action, higher Boosts either increase the chance that something will happen, or they will make skill based actions easier to complete. The game is not pay to win, but a higher Boosted Kong will have an easier time in games than a lower Boosted Kong.
Future Plans
Game will initially be asynchronous and playable through a web browser, but will eventually add both synchronous gameplay and be available on multiple platforms (mobile, steam, etc.).
